Posted Dec 10, 2012

Today Google has commemorated the 197 birthday of Ada Lovelace as a Google Doodle.  Ada Lovelace is considered the world’s first computer programmer.  She was an English mathematician and writer.  She worked on Charles Babbage’s early mechanical general-purpose computer called the Analytical Engine.  The notes that she made on the engine was recognized as the first algorithm intended to be processed by a machine.  On one day in October every year is Ada Lovelace day.  Next year it will be on Tuesday October 15, 2013 to celebrate the achievements of women in science, technology, engineering, or math.
