Google and Dish Network Launching A Wireless Service

Posted Nov 17, 2012

Google and Dish Network is planning to roll out a wireless service through a partnership next year.  Google is planning on making the service data-only with voice and SMS being used as VoIP services.

Google has already started rolling out their fiber ISP services on the Stanford campus and in Kansas City.  Other ISPs have not been playing nice with Google.  AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile have blocked Google Voice and Google Wallet services.

Dish Network has been saying for a while that they want to build a wireless network using the spectrum that they have been acquiring since 2008.  However Dish Network has been wanting to partner up with another big tech company to pull it off.
