Joseph Smarr, the Google engineer in charge of Google+, has been answering questions about the social network on AnyAsq. GigaOM went through his hundreds of answers and found a lot of information about the future of Google+. What’s next for Google+ users? Updates to the stream and notifications. More integration with other Google products. An API. And, to the delight of our Twitter-trained society, hashtags are on their way to Google+.
From Smarr’s AnyAsq page: Smarr also reveals that Google worries about the complexity of what one user calls “hierarchies of circles” but that he supports anyone who wants to build with the APIs. He also says that users will get the option to synchronize Gmail groups with Google+ circles.
