Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) has bought Apture, a company that has designed a browser plug-in that adds contextual information to websites for publishers. The financial details were undisclosed. Google said that they were interested in Apture’s product, the team, and the partnerships.
Apture has enhanced over a billion pages with their products and now their team will be joining the Google Chrome team. ?We started the company to help people have more frictionless access to information,? said Apture CEO Tristan Harris. ?And those features will take on new forms in the Chrome browser.? Before the acquisition, Apture raised $4.1 million in venture capital.
