Google Buys Online Publishing Company EBook Technologies

Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) has acquired online publishing company EBook Technologies. The financial terms of the deal are unknown. eBook Technologies supplies reading devices and licenses technologies that “enable automated publishing and control over content distribution.”

Garth Conboy is the President of EBook Technologies. Conboy was the VP of software engineering of SoftBook Press in the late 1990s.

This past December Google announced Google eBookstore, a service where you can buy e-books and read them on tablets or mobile devices. Google Books, a Google service where you can search for content in scanned and archived books, is now a part of Google eBooks.
