Google chairman Eric Schmidt recently did an interview with Bloomberg about the company’s dominance in Android market share. Schmidt said “we’re winning that war pretty clearly now.” Schmidt went as far as comparing Google’s situation with what happened when Microsoft and Apple competed in the PC market several decades ago. Google is activating around 1.3 million Android devices per day. This is largely due to Google’s open model and their hardware partners. However Schmidt acknowledged that some issues will come up with having an open system. “We will end up with a not perfectly controlled and not perfectly managed bigger pie by virtue of open systems,” said Schmidt.
