Google Is Strengthening Security For Saved Passwords

Posted Nov 4, 2013

Google has been criticized by the way that they store passwords in the Google Chrome operating system.  François Beaufort has reported on his Google+ profile that Chrome will ask users to authenticate themselves using a system password before they can see their saved credentials inside of Chrome.

In the past, users could see their saved passwords by visiting “chrome://settings/passwords” and hitting “Show” on their account.  The feature is limited to the latest Chromium build for Mac as of right now.

It is unknown whether Google will be implementing the feature inside Chrome for Windows.
