Google Fined $5 Million Over A Patent Related To The Linux Kernel

Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) is being fined after a Texas jury made a judgment against the search giant. Google is being found guilty of infringing on a patent that is related to the Linux kernel, requiring them to pay $5 million. The Linux kernel is being used on Google’s server platforms and Android operating system. The lawsuit filed against Google was from a small company called Bedrock Computer Technologies. Bedrock has sued Yahoo!, PayPal, AOL, Match.com, Amazon, and MySpace in the past. [BBC]
