Report: Google Is Building An Android Game Console

Posted Jun 27, 2013

Google is reportedly working on an Android powered video game console, according to sources with The Wall Street Journal.  The same report also suggests that Google is working on a digital wrist watch and a new Nexus Q media playing device based on Android.

The Nexus Q was revealed last year, but it was not released for the public.  Google will be marketing and designing these devices themselves.

Google is going to compete against Apple and smaller companies like Ouya with these products.  The Nexus Q will face off against the Apple TV product.

Android is the most used computing platform on all types of devices with slightly over half a billion of them shipping in 2012.

Gartner estimates that around 867 million devices powered by Android will be shipped this year.
