Telepathy is a startup that has raised $5 million in a first round of funding. Telepathy is working on developing technology that competes against Google Glass. This round of Series A funding was led by Firsthand Technology Value Fund. Telepathy will be using the funding to hire more engineers.
“Wearable technology will enable the next wave in social networking,” stated Telepathy CEO Takahito Iguchi. “The $5 million funding will enable us to enrich the user experience of Telepathy One, which we expect to bring to market in 2014.”
The Telepathy One headset prototype works as a hands-free communications device that can wrap around the back of a person’s head. The Telepathy One headset has a small screen and earplugs for playing sound. This fall Telepathy will be launching a software developer kit (SDK) for people to build apps.
