Posted Feb 15, 2013

Google is going inside NFL stadiums starting with the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana for Google Street View imagery.  Google is calling this initiative a “VIP” 360-degree look at the stadium from multiple angles.  The Indianapolis Colts won the Super Bowl in 2006.

Google Maps lets you see the field, the stands, the VIP suites, and the locker room at Lucas Oil Stadium.  The Lucas Oil Stadium is one of the newest stadiums as it was built in 2008.  The stadium can fit around 62,000-70,000 people based on the type of event.

You can view the field here.  “Together with the Colts and Lucas Oil Stadium, we?re thrilled to give you, the fans, a behind-the-scenes look at the home of the Colts, and enable anyone to ?visit? the stadium from wherever they may be,” stated Google Maps product manager Evan Rapoport.
