Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) has acquired a cybersecurity company called Impermium to improve their abuse monitoring. Impermium launched three years ago and raised $9 million in funding. Impermium has told their customers that they will no longer continue the product.
“By joining Google, our team will merge with some of the best abuse fighters in the world. With our combined talents we?ll be able to further our mission and help make the Internet a safer place. We?re excited about the possibilities,” stated Impermium CEO Mark Risher.
Impermium’s clients include Disqus, Echo, Livefyre, Squarespace, and WordPress. Websites that use Impermium include Tumblr, Pinterest, CNN, ESPN, and The Washington Post. There is a client base of over 300,000 websites.
