The Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) Glass industry could be worth $3.3 billion to Google by 2017, according to Robert Peck of SunTrust Robinson Humphrey. Peck is predicting that around 650,000 people are expected to wear the face-mounted augmented reality glasses.
Peck estimates that Google Glass will retail for $349, but he believes that most of the revenue that Google earns from Glass will be from local advertising.
?If there is one point investors should take away from Glass, it is that the technology is unique because it enables a person to perform actions while keeping their head up and continuing their first-person perspective,? stated Peck in a research note about Google Glass.
Peck believes that Glass will bring under $300 million in 2014, slightly over $1 billion in 2015, $2 billion in 2016, and $3.3 billion in 2017.
