Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) sold Google Glass to the public for only one day yesterday. Guess what? It sold out.
Google offered Google Glass for $1,500 in the U.S. without requiring an invitation. The sale went on for 24 hours. The white “cotton” version of Google Glass sold out in a few hours. On Wednesday morning, the entire stock was sold out.
“We’re out of spots in the Explorer Program for now, but may have more to share soon,” said Google on the Glass sign-up page. But there was a sign up form to stay on top of Google Glass news and to receive a notification for when Google Glass becomes available again. Before the sale yesterday, Google sold the Explorer version of glass through a special invite.
“To discover new places, sometimes we need to leave the map behind,” said Google on the Glass sign-up page. “And that’s what Glass Explorers do. They are the first to make, to tinker, to create, to shape, and to share through Glass. We’re expanding little by little, and experimenting with different ways of bringing new Explorers into the program.”
