Google KitKat is now used on 5.3% of Android devices

Google has released some new stats today regarding Android KitKat. Since Google made its last announcement, Android KitKat’s marketshare doubled from 2.5% to 5.3%.

Adoption rates for the new version of Android highly depends on telecommunication companies sending over-the-air updates and new devices entering the market.

On the other hand, Apple’s iOS can be upgraded through iTunes. As a comparison, Apple iOS 7 now runs on 85% of Apple’s mobile devices.
