Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) has launched a website for their URL shortening service (goo.gl). Google first launched the service back in December as part of Google Toolbar and Feedburner. Now the URL shortening service has been integrated into Blogger, Picasa, Maps, News, etc.
Google acknowledged that there are many URL shortening services already out there, but the company pointed out that all goo.gl links are protected from malware. The Google URL shortening website also lets you track all of your shortened links and the number of clicks.
When you click “Details” from within the Google URL shortening service, you can find public, real-time analytics about these links. It also shows the traffic over time and the top referrers.
