Google+ Local Launches Today With Zagat Integration

Posted May 30, 2012

Today Google+ has announced Google+ Local. Google+ Local is integrated with the Google+ social network and it will be available for both mobile devices and the desktop according to Google VP for local, maps, and location services Marissa Mayer. Google+ Local was designed to provide user recommendations based on their location. The search results will include Zagat scores and recommendations from people you trust in Google+.

You can access Google+ Local from the “Local” tab on the left-hand side of Google+. You can search for specific places or browse for recommendations that fit your mood. If you click on a restaurant, museum, or other venue, you will be taken to a local Google+ page that includes photos, Zagat scores, summaries, reviews from your friends, and other information like the address, and hours of operation.

Google+ Local will be integrated across other Google products that you already use every day. If you are looking for a place using Google Maps or Google Search, you will get the same great local information there.

Google acquired Zagat in September 2011.
