Google Maps Now Has 25 Million New Building Footprints

Posted Oct 22, 2012

Google has been updated Google Maps at a rapid pace.  In one of their latest updates, Google Maps has added 25 million new building footprints to Google Maps.  The new Google Maps building footprints were created by a computer, which processed aerial imagery and the shapes of the buildings in maps have been rendered.

Google Maps users can fix inaccurate building footprints in Google Map Maker and assign businesses to existing buildings.  They can also draw the entire building footprint themselves.
