Google Maps For Android Now Works Offline

Posted Jun 28, 2012

Now when you download the Google Maps app from Google Play, you can select and save a region of a map from over 150 countries to use offline.  This is especially useful if you have a WiFi only device, you are in a subway, or if your mobile data usage is restricted.  If you are traveling overseas, you may want to consider selecting the area that you will be visiting on Google Maps and select “make available offline.”  Google estimates the file size before you decide to make Google Maps work offline.  The blue dot will still work without a data connection if you have GPS enabled on the device.
