Google Releases YouTube 2.1 On Android Market

Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) has released the YouTube 2.1 application on the Android Market. This means that the YouTube application is no longer tied to Android OS releases any more. What are some of the new features?

The new features include in-page playback, commenting posting, subscription updates, and a new full-screen user interface. The new YouTube application only works on phones powered by Android 2.2. You can get the app by searching “YouTube” in the Android Market search. This application will be pre-installed on upcoming Android 2.3 devices like the Nexus S.
