Google Street View Leads To Taiwanese Man Getting Fined

Posted Jul 9, 2012

A Taiwanese judge has used a Google Street View image that shows an unleashed dog to hold a man responsible for his neighbor’s bicycle accident. The defendant denied being the dog’s owner (Mr. Lee) that caused injury to the plaintiff (Mr. Peng).

Mr. Peng said that he became scared after the dog started pursuing him while he was riding his bike last July. He fell off the bike and injured his forehead as a result. The 2-year old Google Street View picture shows the dog standing in Lee’s yard. The judge ended up fining Lee 59,000 Taiwan dollars ($2,000).
