Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) has announced that they have invested $75 million in the Panhandle 2 wind farm in Carson County outside of Amarillo, Texas. This is Google’s 15th renewable energy investment and is their second investment in Texas. The new wind farm is expected to produce 182MW, which is enough capacity to provide energy for around 56,000 homes. This facility is scheduled to go online by the end of the year. It consists of 79 Siemens 2.3MW turbines. Morgan Stanley is providing the financing for the project and Pattern Energy will acquire the facility after the construction is complete.
