Google has decided to shut down their Affiliate Network service. Google said that they will continue to support customers as the wind down takes place in the next few months.
“Cost-per-action (CPA) marketing has rapidly evolved in the last few years, and we?ve invested significantly in CPA tools like Product Listing Ads, remarketing and Conversion Optimizer. We?re constantly evaluating our products to ensure that we?re focused on the services that will have the biggest impact for our advertisers and publishers,” stated J.J. Hirschle, the Head of Google’s Affiliate Network. “To that end, we?ve made the difficult decision to retire Google Affiliate Network and focus on other products that are driving great results for clients.”
Hirschle recommended that Affiliate publishers utilize AdSense as a replacement. Google said that marketers should use other CPA-oriented Google tools like Product Listing Ads (PLAs), remarketing, and Conversion Optimizer for driving online sales and conversions.
Google plans to disable publisher relationships on July 31, 2013. Publisher payments for network activated will be disbursed. Some functionality of the service will be available through October 31, 2013.
