Google updates iOS app to integrate “smarter conversations” into Voice Search

Posted May 14, 2014

Google has updated its iOS app to version 4.0.0, which lets users ask questions with their phones by tapping on the microphone or by saying OK Google while the app is open. This feature enables the Google app to further compete with Apple’s own built-in Siri feature.

Google’s Search app can understand questions like “What’s the weather like?” It can respond to follow-up questions like “How about this weekend?” The Google Now feature in the Google app has been updated to tell you if there is an interesting article for your favorite topics, your upcoming trips, or your favorite authors/blogs.

Version 4.0.0 also received smaller updates for the Cricket sports cards in Google Now, faster loading of Google Search and Google Now, and with more fluid image results.
