The Wall Street Journal reports that Google will double its venture capital investments to $200 million per year. The VC team at Google is getting more office space and has hired at least 5 new members to expand startup investments. Google Ventures has invested in companies like grid provider Silver Spring Networks Inc., which just filed to go public, and CoolPlanetBioFuels Inc. The team has just added John Flynn and Sam Schillace as Googlers in Residence, to work as a creative team with the companies in which Google Ventures invests.
