Google Wants You to Go Public, Plans to Delete Private Profiles

Posted Jul 6, 2011

The introduction of Google+ has brought a change to Google Profiles: users can no longer maintain completely private profiles. However, Google doesn’t require much for the public profile information. The help section says “your full name and gender are the only required information that will be displayed on your profile” and that “all private profiles will be deleted after July 31, 2011.” Users do get the option to prevent their profiles from appearing in Google searches.
