Google acquired Zagat almost two years ago and the service has just been revamped this past week. Google also launched new iOS and Android apps for Zagat with a new website. Zagat reviews and ratings are now available for free with no registration required.
Zagat will feature restaurant and nightlife listings for 9 cities including San Francisco, Austin, Boston, Chicago, London, Los Angeles, New York City, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C. Zagat is planning on rolling out the service to 50 more cities in the U.S. and international locations. The new website will feature news and video content from local editors. It also has improved search and map-based browsing. Zagat users will be able to browse menus or make reservations through OpenTable.
Google is also shutting down the Google+ Local app. This app offered many of the same features as the new Zagat apps.
