Corning’s New Gorilla Glass NBT Can Protect Touch-Screen Notebooks

Posted Jul 29, 2013

Corning has announced Gorilla Glass NBT.  Gorilla Glass NBT is designed for touch-enabled notebooks to protect it from everyday use.  The original Gorilla Glass is great at protecting your smartphone’s screen from getting scratched by the keys in your pocket, but it can be cracked when dropping it on the ground.  A cracked screen could be very costly for touchscreen notebooks too.

Gorilla Glass NBT is not intended to protect the screen from being dropped, but more from scratches caused from rough usage.  Corning said that consumer complaint rates are over twice as high for scratches on touchscreen notebooks compared to mobile devices.

Dell is already strategically using Gorilla Glass NBT for their gadgets coming this fall, according to CNET.
