Hacker Group Anonymous Illegally Intercepts Call Between FBI and Metro Police

Posted Feb 3, 2012

Anonymous was able to hack into a conference call between the FBI and the UK Metropolitan Police. A recording of the conference call was leaked on to the Internet. The hackers were able to secretly access the call because they had access to a compromised police investigator’s e-mail account.

The 16 minute conversation was posted on a number of websites including YouTube. The conversations are related to ongoing investigations into hackers associated with Anonymous, AntiSec, and LulzSec.

The conference call took place on January 17th and participants were sent an e-mail with call-in details and passcodes. The subject of the e-mail was “Anon-Lulz International Coordination Call.” The e-mail was sent to over 40 law enforcement officers in the USA, UK, Ireland, Netherlands, France and Sweden.

Whoever uploaded the recording of the conference call bleeped out the names of the alleged hackers. For example, Jake “Topiary” Davis and Ryan Cleary are clearly named, but their cases are not discussed.
