Hootsuite is a popular social media management tool that is used by brands to maintain their Twitter, Foursquare, Instagram, and LinkedIn accounts. Today Hootsuite has announced that they have acquired social analytics company uberVu. The terms of this deal was undisclosed.
Last year, Hootsuite raised $165 million in a round of funding and said at the time that the funding would be used for mergers and acquisitions. uberVu was founded in London, but moved their headquarters to Boston. The company launched out of Seedcamp and raised around $586,000. By integrating uberVu’s technology into their own offerings, Hootsuite will be able to provide more data to their customers about social interactions made with customers.
uberVu has around 200 enterprise customers, including Indiegogo, 3M, NBC, Heinz, and Fujitsu.
“uberVU helps businesses better understand their social audience by identifying key influencers on relevant topics, easily detecting real-time spikes in engagement (with insights on sentiment, location, and demographics), and highlighting important mentions. Customers also get a powerful content marketing tool that identifies trending stories and relevant content to post directly to social media accounts. To track results, customers can create custom reports using templates and drag-and-drop layouts,” stated Hootsuite CEO Ryan Holmes in a blog post.
