When Sundar Pichai, the SVP of Google Chrome and Apps hit the stage at the I/O conference, he discussed the growth of the browser. Google Chrome is now being used by 310 million people since launching three and a half years ago. Initially the browser launched on Windows and it expanded to OS X and Linux. Now the browser on iOS and it will grow even more.

Google’s growth is good for the company’s profits. When someone searches with Safari or Firefox, Google has to pay a portion of search revenue through traffic acquisition costs (TAC). Pichai did not mention whether Google would have to pay TAC to Apple for Chrome on iOS. Google also makes money for paid apps on the Chrome Web Store.
