According to The Wall Street Journal, six HTC employees have been indicted for allegedly leaking company secrets, accepting kickbacks, and falsifying expenses. One of the executives that have been charged was the the HTC Vice President of Design Thomas Chien.
Chien is being charged with leaking an unreleased “smartphone interface design.” Chien is being accused of plans to start a new company with the individuals that he allegedly leaked the design to in Beijing.
Chien and five other HTC employees are being charged with breach of trust for allegedly taking bribes from suppliers and falsifying $1.12 million in expense reports. Three people at unidentified suppliers were also charged and each charge carries a maximum of 10 years in a Taiwanese prison.
