HTC is hiring staff in preparation for the launch of an online store that would sell applications and e-books. HTC is one of the latest OEMs that is considering launching an app store of their own with Acer being the last company to announce similar plans.
HTC’s revenues doubled in the third quarter from a year ago to $2.51 billion. However their competition with Samsung is intensifying. Samsung overtook HTC in the previous quarter as the fourth biggest smartphone vendor in the world.
HTC is hiring content editors for the online HTC store for phones, e-books, and magazines. The hirings include a small team in Taiwan. The company has plans to expand the hiring editor team to about 100 across the world.
