Activision has launched a new commercial for Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2. The trailer is called “Surprise” and it was directed by Guy Ritchie (known for directing the Sherlock Holmes films). The film also features French movie star Omar Sy. It debuted last night on TV during Monday Night Football on ESPN.
The Call Of Duty franchise is a huge deal for Activision. Last year’s release saw $1 billion in sales in 16 days. When details about Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 leaked in 2011, the company had to deal with a PR problem, but that gave the opportunity for Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg to connect with fans.
Weapons blogger FPSRussia was also brought into the marketing campaign. FPSRussia is known for blowing up things on his website.
