Indian Government To Monitor BlackBerry Messaging

Research In Motion Limited (NASDAQ:RIMM) said that they plan to meet an August 31 deadline for the Indian government. The Indian government will be able to monitor corporate e-mail and messenger services. The Indian government had a concern with terrorists using BlackBerry devices to communicate with each other using corporate e-mail and messenger services.

RIM VP for industry, government, and university relations Robert E. Crow said that he is optimistic about resolving security concerns in India. According to a statement, RIM said that the company “genuinely tries to be as cooperative as possible with governments in the spirit of supporting legal and national security requirements, while also preserving the lawful needs of citizens and corporations.”
