Indian luge contender Shiva Keshavan has received Dogecoin donations to go to the Winter Olympics. This is the second time that Dogecoin was used for sending contenders to the Olympics. Shiva received over $6,000 in Dogecoin donations to make it to the Olympics. Earlier this month, Dogecoin was used for sending the Jamaican bobsled team to the Winter Olympics.

The $6,000 was raised in three hours from over 350 donors across the Dogecoin Foundation and Reddit dogecoin community. One donor gave Shiva $4,500 worth of Dogecoin alone (3 million Dogecoins). Dogecoin is a cryptocurrency that is similar to Bitcoin.

Keshavan was part of a disgraced Indian Winter Olympics team that was suspended by the International Olympic Committee last year for violating the charter including electing leaders that have pending criminal charges. Keshavan and two other skiers can compete in Sochi independently, but they cannot carry the Indian flag or wear their clothes representing the country. Their national anthem is not going to be played during the medal ceremonies as well. This is the first time in history that Indian athletes will not be carrying the flag at the Olympic games.
