Posted Apr 5, 2009

Intel and GE formed an alliance to develop home health care technologies for senior citizens.  The two companies will invest $250 million over the next five years on research and development of these health care technologies. These technologies will help seniors live independently.

Under the partnership, GE will market and sell the Intel Health Guide. Intel Health Guide is a care management computer system that lets medical professionals monitor patients through the Internet.

Baby boomers are getting old. So the market for independent care technologies is growing fast. Intel and GE expect this sector to grow into a multibillion dollar market.
