Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) has decided to stop the development of the MeeGO operating system due to a lack of enthusiasm from tablet and handset companies. Intel will focus strictly on hardware products to be paired with Android and Windows Phone in 2012 according to sources with DigiTimes.
However Intel said that they will stay committed to MeeGo and will continue to work with the community for developing the needs of customers and open source end users. MeeGo was created through a partnership between Intel and Nokia in March 2010. Since then Nokia shifted their resources to build phones with Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7.
