Intel Exec Tom Kilroy Insisted To Microsoft To Make A Tablet-Only OS

Posted Jan 7, 2011

At the CES conference, Intel SVP and General Manager of Sales and Marketing Group Tom Kilroy said “Hey, we tried to get [Microsoft] to do a tablet OS (operating system) for a long time. Us, and others like Dell.” Apparently Microsoft did not listen and decided to stick Windows 7 on all of their tablets according to CNET.

However Microsoft said that the next release of Windows will run on ARM processors to make Windows optimized for tablets. Kilroy is working on Atom processors with the code name Oak Trail and Moorestown for Android, Windows 7, and the MeeGo operating system. The Oak Trail processors are dual core and the Moorestown chip is single-core.
