We all know that Android has a higher smartphone marketshare than Apple iOS. However, there is one major statistic that is in Apple’s favor in terms of holiday shopping. Apple iOS devices were used to make 23% of all e-commerce orders, according to a report from IBM.
Google Android accounted for 4.6%. iOS customers spent an average of around $93.94 per order, which is nearly twice the amount of average Android shoppers. Mobile devices as a whole were used for almost 29% of e-commerce sales, which is up 40% from 2012. Smartphones are generally used for browsing products, but consumers have a tendency to spend more money when using tablets.
Social Media Buyers
Social media played a big role in e-commerce this Christmas too. Pinterest users spent an average of nearly $87 per order and Facebook users spent an average of around $72. Customers from Facebook were 4 times more likely to make a purchase than Pinterest users though.
