Apple Inc. (AAPL) Increases iPhone 5s Production By 75%

According to NPD, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will be increasing iPhone 5s (pictured above) fabrication by around 75%, but the 5c will be lowered by 35%.  NPD Display Search cited channel checks with Apple suppliers about the numbers.

NPD Analysts said that there were two factors accountable for the poor demand of the iPhone 5c.  NPD senior analysts Tina Teng and Shawn Lee said that the iPhone 5c has a miscalculated China launch and consumer expectations was expecting the phone would be “cheap.”

Apple reportedly increased the iPhone 5c price to reach acceptable profit margins when Chinese carriers offered competitive subsidies during the Golden Week holiday in China.  This possibly means that Apple miscalculated the 5c launch timing.
