Rumors about the next line of Apple iPhones have started. The next Apple iPhone (believed to be called the Apple iPhone 6) is believed to have a 5.7-inch screen. The source of the rumors are market research company DisplaySearch. DisplaySearch reportedly reached out to Apple’s supply chain sources in Asia.
DisplaySearch analyst David Hsieh wrote:
Introduction of the iPhone 5S and 5C was the latest example that Apple has been slow in adopting the latest display technologies. While 5-6? FHD resolution displays are rapidly growing in the smart phone market, the iPhone has stayed with the 4? 1136×640 screen for over a year and a half. […] Based on supply chain research, we believe Apple is planning to revamp nearly all of the displays in its products over the next year.
The reports also mentioned that the Apple television set will arrive in Q3 2013 and the rumored smart-watch product will come in Q4 2014.
If Apple does release a smartphone with a 5.7-inch screen, then that means that there is slightly more than one inch of a difference between that device and the iPad Mini. This means that iPhone 6 would be known as a “phablet” (the cross between a phone and a tablet). Samsung is known for popularizing these type of devices with the Galaxy Note line of devices.
