A source with the International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran has announced that blogger Hossein Derakhshan has been released on an unprecedented $1.5 million bail. Derakhshan requested a furlough from prison after a lower court had sentenced him to 19.5 years in prison.

Darakhshan is expected to return to prison in the next few days as judicial authorities have refused to grant him furlough till now. Derakhshan was charged with “cooperation with hostile states, propagating against the regime, propagation in favor of anti-revolutionary groups, insulting sanctities, and implementation and management of obscene websites.” Derakhshan was isolated from the world and was beaten during his 10 months of solitary confinement.
