Janrain is a social login management platform that has raised $33 million in funding.  This round of funding was led by Millennium Technology Value Partners.  Split Rock Partners, Epic Ventures,, Emergence Capital, RPM Ventures, DFJ Frontier, and Anthem Venture Partners also participated in this round.    Janrain has raised a total of $53 million.

Janrain is known for heading the development of the OpenID tool.  Janrain’s plug-and-play technology lets an app or a website developer sign in to their application using their existing Facebook, Google, Twitter, Yahoo!, and LinkedIn credentials.  Once logged in, a user can post comments, purchase, reviews, or other content from the application to multiple social networks.

OpenID is used on over 350,000 websites worldwide including big brands like Universal Music Group, Mattel, and Philips.

Janrain is working with their clients to use data from their users to provide a better on-site or in-application experience.  This could include personalized offers based on their demographics.  Janrain’s User Management Platform (JUMP) gives users a single and unified view of users across multiple online properties.  Janrain will be using the funding for expansion and product development.
