Posted Feb 8, 2014

Joby Ogwyn is the youngest American that plans to ever summit Mt. Everest. This May, he is going to jump off of Mt. Everest in a custom-made wing suit. He will also have cameras attached to his clothing so that viewers can see him do the 10,000 vertical foot jump live on The Discovery Channel. The Discovery Channel is going to broadcast “Everest Jump Live” in May.

Ogwyn climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro when he was 18 and he was the youngest person in the world to climb the “Seven Summits” at age 24. Ogwyn set the world record for the fastest ascent of Mt. Everest in 2008.

“This will be the final piece of my dream,” stated Ogwyn. “Ever since I was a kid, I’ve imagined what it would be like to fly. Everything that I’ve ever accomplished in my life has just been practice for what I’m about to do.”

The Discovery Channel is broadcasting two, one-hour pre-shows that features Ogwyn’s training and preparations for Everest. Ogwyn is going to perform test jumps in California, Utah, Florida, and the Swiss Alps.
