T-Mobile USA said today that they have named John Legere as the CEO of T-Mobile USA. Legere has filled a spot that has been available since Philipp Humm left. Legere is the former head of Global Crossing.
T-Mobile USA has been struggling since the three other major telecomm companies are selling the iPhone. T-Mobile USA is also behind because they are just starting to roll out LTE next year. Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint have already hit the ground running when it comes to LTE as they are being deployed in major cities now.
Legere is going to assume the new post on Saturday and will replace Jim Alling. Alling will be returning to the COO post after filling in for Humm.
?As T-Mobile moves forward with its strategic initiatives to improve its market position, including expanding its network coverage and initiating LTE service, John has obviously the right skill set to lead the business into the future,? stated Deutsche Telekom (DT) CEO Rene Obermann. DT is the parent company of T-Mobile USA. Legere also worked in executive roles at Dell and AT&T.
