Justice Department Seizes Over 130 Domain Names

The U.S. Justice Department (DOJ) and the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) have started a large new round of domain name seizures as part of a global crackdown on piracy. Although the seizures are disputable, these types of governmental actions would be legitimized by the SOPA bill. This initiative is called “Operation In Our Sites.”

This new round of domain name seizures is happening exactly one year after 82 domain names were taken, including Torrent-Finder.com. ICE labeled considered that a “Cyber Monday crackdown.”

Most of the domain names seized in this round belong to websites that charge visitors for their services. Most of these domain names are connected to selling counterfeit clothing and software. Below is a list of the domain names that have been seized.
