Zappos received harsh criticism from rap artist Kanye West recently. During a podcast interview with Bret Easton Ellis this past week, Kanye started to talk about fashion. Kanye talked about an encounter he had with Zappos CEO Tony Hsieh.
“I got into this giant argument with the head of Zappos that he’s trying to tell me what I need to focus on. Meanwhile, he sells all this sh*t product to everybody, his whole thing is based off of selling sh*t product,” stated West in the interview.
West’s fiance Kim Kardashian is also known for co-founding an online shoe service called ShoeDazzle. Earlier this month, we reported that ShoeDazzle will be laying off 52 employees after merging with JustFab.
Zappos responded by tweeting a link to a page on their website that shows a picture of the “sh*t product” that they sell.
The Zappos page says:
“Interested in buying sh-t product? You’ve come to the right place! Here at Zappos.com, we happily sell sh-t products to everybody! This is the throne, everyone has been watching. Whether you’re #1 or #2, your clique will show no mercy, even in Paris.”
This product is the “perfect gift for the man that has everything.” The product page also linked to West’s statement in the podcast.
