Lamebook Files Declaratory Judgment Complaint Against Facebook

Posted Nov 5, 2010

Lamebook is a parody website where people share funny status messages and photos from Facebook. The website was launched in April 2009 by Jonathan Standefer and Matthew Genitempo. Lamebook filed a declaratory judgment complaint against Facebook. This is in response to a C&D that was sent to Lamebook in March 2010 from a Facebook counsel.

Lamebook is arguing that their website is a clear parody of Facebook and does not infringe upon or dilute the Facebook trademark. They believe this right is protected by the First Amendment. Facebook previously went after the companies Teachbook and Placebook for having the word “book” in their names.
