Land Rover Working On A Plug-In Hybrid Range Rover

Posted Dec 16, 2009

England based car manufacturer Land Rover is working on a plug-in hybrid off road vehicle that will have CO2 emissions of about 100/gm. It would have an electric-only range of around 20 miles. The Range Rover hybrid vehicle will have a prototype and may be commercial by next year. The hybrid Range Rover vehicle will be powered by a 3.0 liter V6 diesel motor with parallel 25 kw electric power. The hybrid Range Rover will alleviate the image that all SUVs are gas-guzzling, heavy pollution-producing vehicles. Indian manufacturing company Tata bought Land Rover from Ford Motor Company in 2007.
